4/1/2014-Medina, Ohio: Slate Rock Safety, LLC, an ecommerce retailer and distributor specializing in the distribution of safety clothing, was selected as a finalist by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce for the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award, which will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.

Slate Rock Safety is being recognized for Outfitters, which is a corporate clothing purchase program serving the manufacturing, electric utilities, oil and gas, government, and other industrial markets. Slate Rock Safety Outfitters provides companies an opportunity to provide a completely customized catalog of flame resistant (FR) clothing and work wear to employees using an allowance-based program. Employees are served options that meet their specific work requirements, and have 24/7 access to purchase what they need.
Outfitters had seen substantial growth in 2013, and on track to almost double in size in 2014. Features that are fueling growth include proprietary technology adaptable to customer needs, a broad range of product offerings, support from a dedicated account manager, and full customization with no contract. When asked about introducing Outfitters to customers, Kim Wilson, President, stated “We approach each account as a business partner, and never try to fit them into a program that is not designed with their unique needs in mind.” She added, “We also don't lock customers into a long term contract. We understand that our customers’ needs change. As partners, we need to be flexible and change with them.”
Kim also pointed out that Ohio has been great for Slate Rock Safety, being the second largest ship-to state in sales; second only to the oil and gas state of Texas. She also stated that Ohio’s strong base of oil and gas, electric utility, and manufacturing provides even greater growth opportunities for Slate Rock Safety Outfitters.
Being an Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award Finalist follows a year of recognition in 2013, when Slate Rock Safety was recognized by Inc. Magazine, the Cascade Capital Corporation, the Medina County Economic Development Corporation, and the Weatherhead 100 for growth and entrepreneurship.
